Biography

Ryan is an Associate Attorney at GEM, practicing in all areas of family law. Ryan approaches his cases with a solutions-oriented mindset. With a background in communications and media, Ryan is skilled in helping his client’s effectively share their stories with the court and other decisionmakers when third-party intervention is necessary.

Growing up in a blended family, Ryan has firsthand experience with how families can successfully transition through and beyond divorce. When children are involved, Ryan hopes to help his clients find ways to maintain long-term, positive family structures.

Ryan received his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School, a top 20 ranked school. Throughout law school, he honed his legal skills by working at a well-regarded civil litigation firm, which practice areas included banking and finance law, commercial litigation, and family law, among others. Ryan additionally worked at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid and served in the law school’s Community Mediation Clinic, providing mediation services. Ryan is committed to the out-of-court solutions alternative dispute resolution affords.

Ryan is an exceptional writer, having served on the prestigious Minnesota Law Review, and was the Editor of the Silha Bulletin, a research publication associated with the University of Minnesota’s Silha Center for the Study of Media and Ethics Law. Ryan is adept at researching and writing about complex legal issues.

Prior to law school, Ryan received a B.S. in Journalism and a B.A. in Political Science, both with Highest Distinction, and a minor in German from the University of Kansas. Ryan was inducted into the national journalism honor society, Kappa Tau Alpha, the national political science honor society, Pi Sigma Alpha, and the national German honor society, Delta Phi Alpha, for his academic achievements. He then worked for Bark Media Co., a communications marketing firm in Lawrence, Kansas, before transitioning to law.

Outside of work, Ryan enjoys spending time with his family and getting outside to explore Colorado’s natural wonders.
