Biography

Steven M. Visioli is Senior Litigation Counsel at GEM Family Law, specializing in divorce, complex asset division, child custody, support enforcement, and other family law issues. Steven is an exceptionally talented trial attorney who is sought out for his skill in the courtroom. He has been recognized as a Top 50 Young Professional by ColoradoBiz Magazine and as the “People’s Choice” Best Family Law Lawyer by Barrister’s Best, among other distinctions.

Prior to joining GEM Family Law as Senior Litigation Counsel, Steven managed his own legal practice, Visioli Legal, which was preceded by his partnership at another Denver-based family law firm. Steven’s clients benefit from his extensive experience, creative outlook, and broad network of legal resources.

Steven attended The University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he focused on experiential courses designed to prepare him for skillful and efficient law practice. He was a competing member of the school's highly-ranked National Trial Team, was Co-President of the Student Trial Lawyers Association, and was an Editor on the Criminal Law Review.

During law school, Steven was a clerk for The Honorable Judge Michael Spear in Colorado's 18th Judicial District, on an entirely domestic relations docket, where he gained unique insight into the court's perspective on domestic matters, to include what strategies are – and are not – effective in persuading a judicial officer. Following his clerkship on the domestic relations docket, Steven began interning with a family law firm, commencing his law practice with a focus on complex divorce and child custody issues from the outset.

Prior to law school, Steven earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he worked at Colorado Legal Services, assisting attorneys in the representation of Coloradoans who could not afford counsel. There, he developed a deep commitment to service; the following year, he worked at the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office, assisting district attorneys and court magistrates on misdemeanor issues. The most important aspect of these positions, for Steven, was the opportunity to spend countless hours with experienced trial lawyers and judges - observing, learning, and becoming comfortable and confident in the courtroom. Steven’s legal writing is additionally outstanding, having been honed since college by senior attorneys and judicial officers.

Steven was raised in small-town Colorado and worked his way through school. His talent and skill is matched only by his compassion and deep drive to serve his clients.
